Police tried pulling over a driver who committed several traffic violations, but then fled.
BEAUMONT, Texas — A chase in Beaumont comes to a crashing end. Both the passenger and driver were arrested.
Police in Beaumont were patrolling in the 2300 block of Hebert Street when they noticed a red Chevrolet Tahoe commit several traffic violations. The officers tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver sped off.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Virginia Calhoun lost control of the vehicle and crashed near 6th Street and Rusk Street. Calhoun was taken into custody.
The passenger 24-year-old Jerrick Odell fled on foot from the crash site.
After a short search from police, Odell was discovered hiding under a vehicle at a residence on North 6th Street.
The pair were placed under arrest. Both remain in the Jefferson County Jail for Evading.
